Breezestar stepped out of her den. She had spent the past day trying to figure out what to say at this next meeting. WindClan had so many apprentices and so little warriors! Breezestar leapt up to the Tallrock, and shouted the words that would bring WindClan coming. "All cats that can catch their own prey please gather quickly beneath Tallrock!" Her voice rang out amongst the clearing into all the dens.
Once they were all assembled, she started the meeting. "I have some important announcements to make. Many are late, and need attention. First off, I would like to make a new warrior today." She flicked her tail in Solarpaw's direction. "At a recent battle with rogues, Solarpaw did extremely well. I, Breezestar, leader of WindClan call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as warrior in her turn. Solarpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan even at the cost of your life?" She paused a moment to let her say I do, before continuing. "Then by the Powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Solarpaw, from this moment on you will be known as Solarwhisker. Starclan honors your bravery and we welcome you as a full warrior of WindClan." Breezestar then flicked her tail to the two kits of the clan. "Blastkit and Flashkit, until you earn your warrior names, you shall be known as Blastpaw and Flashpaw. Solarwhisker, you shall teach everything you know to Blastkit. I shall mentor Flashkit." The leader bent down to touch Flashkit's nose. Training a deaf apprentice is going to be tough.
"Also," she shouted, "we have many apprentices without mentors. Venompaw's mentor will be Whippingwind. Snakepaw's mentor will be Moonfire. Waterpaw's mentor will be Bronzeclaw. Amberpaw's mentor will be Goldenpelt. Flightpaw's mentor will be Graystorm. Finally, Flypaw's mentor will be Flowerleaf." As she said each pair, she nodded at them, confident in her choices.
"I'm afraid to bring bad news to the Clan, but most you have already heard the devastating news. Cornwhisker was killed by a pack of rogues. When going to investigate, our patrol was attacked by the same pack. They retreated, but that doesn't mean they won't come back. We will be increasing patrols, and marking our borders more often. We must be prepared for another attack. That is all." She stepped down from Tallrock, and gazed at Fickleheart. Her eyes were dull, and there were bags underneath her eyes. Her gaze seemed to say, 'Can we get through this?' With that, Breezestar headed to the medicine cat den to check on Shiftingshadows.
