Ravenpaw&Doompaw

Ravenpaw bounced into the clearing. Her friend trailed behind her. She was the only one who could see him. His name was Doomkit. But she would fix that.

Ravenpaw jumped up onto a stump at the edge of the clearing. "Here seems good."

"You're not allowed to leave camp without permission Ravenpaw." Doomkit meowed. The ghost cat's pelt shimmered with dim stars.

"Tis a special occasion." Ravenpaw purred cheerfully. She turned her head to the sky, "I say these words before StarClan. I Ravenpaw, apprentice of ThunderClan, say that this kit's name will be Doompaw until he has earned his warrior name. I will mentor him."

"WHAT?" Doomkit yowled. Ravenpaw touched her nose to his and she shuddered with delight. "Ravenpaw I can't, you're not a leader. Your not even from my Clan."

"So? You live here." She smiled at him, "And the fog isn't around right? If I'm with you you can leave camp!"

"I know." Doompaw meowed, "But..."

"When I go to a gathering you can see the territories! Well at least..." She looked at him with electric eyes, "At least WindClan."

Doompaw stayed very still. With her he could see the clearing. Even some of the forest, but the fog was there. Lurking, ready to swallow him up if he strayed to far from his guide. He turned his gaze on her.

"Alright then, mentor."

Ravenpaw curled close to him and they both watched the stars. It wasn't long before they both fell asleep.

Dawn tinged the sky, turning it pink. To any other cat it would appear that Ravenpaw was sleeping alone in the clearing. Her black pelt had speckles of dew, but there was a cat beside her. A starry cat no other could see in the light.

Worry plagued Darkdagger as he followed the scent of his missing apprentice. <I haven't even had her for one sunrise and she's gone missing!> He thought, fury riding up into his throat.

The dark tabby stopped, a snarl curling his lip. "Ravenpaw!" He spat, bounding to her side. He stuck out a paw and prodded her roughly. His venom purple eyes flashed with fury. When she woke up, "What is the meaning of this? Leaving camp without the permission of a warrior? I ought to have Smallstar send you back to the nursery!"

Ravenpaw stirred as the sharp prod in her side brought her to the waking world. She blinked her electric blue eyes in confusion as the deputy and her mentor went off. Her pelt bristled with alarm as he hissed furiously at her.
"I wasn't doing anything wrong." She spat, "I was just out for a bit."
Her blue eyes flashed, challenging her mentor as she stood up and thrust her nose into his face. They were barely a whisker apart. Her tail lashed and her eyes lit up with anger, "You can't make me go back to the nursery anyways."

Alarm flashed through Doompaw as he stared in disbelief at Ravenpaw. "Ravenpaw!" He hissed, trying to catch the apprentices attention, "That's your mentor, your deputy. You can't talk to him like that. Show him some respect!"

He watched as her right ear swiveled back but to Doompaw's dismay the she-cat continued to glare defiantly at her mentor. "You mouse-brain."

Darkdagger couldn't help the slight admiration he felt for the defiant she-cat who stood in front of him. Still a prickle of exasperation rippled through him. >Why do I have to get the difficult ones?<

"Ravenpaw you need to learn respect." Darkdagger meowed, he couldn't hide the anger from his meow. "For one moon you will hunt for the Clan, not only that, but seeing as we have no elder's you will care for the warriors. Any of them can ask you to do something and it will be done. I don't care if it's clearing away their dirt. Do you understand? Now we should meet Foxheart and Crowpaw near the Windclan border."
