>>Shiftingshadows>>>>> Pain filled Shiftingshadows. That was what woke her up. Her breathing was terribly hitched. It had never felt this bad before. She staggered to her paws, choking for air.
A huge cough escaped her. It wasn't anything contagious, Shiftingshadows had always had a terrible time breathing. Never this bad though. As she coughed she felt as though her lungs burned.
Her vision flickered. She saw blood on the ground in front of her but couldn't clearly process that it was hers. "Help..."
She never asked for help. She was always too proud to, but she realized with sharp clarity that if she didn't get help she'd die. Shiftingshadows barely found the energy to get from the den she was in.
"Breezestar..." She choked as she staggered into her leader's den. Her deep blue eyes were wide with terror. She was afraid, for the first time in Shiftingshadows life she was afraid.

Breezestar turned around as Shiftingshadows called her name. "Shiftingshadows!" she said she saw the terrible state Shiftingshadows was in. The she-cat was barely breathing, and choking as of now. Oh no! Will she live? She had no time to think on that now. She had to help Shiftingshadows! But how? She didn't know herbs, but she knew someone who did!
"Icefang!!!! Icefang! Come here! Quickly! Shiftingshadows is having trouble breathing!" she called loudly, and she was sure everyone in the camp would here it, but she needed the medicine cat now if Shiftingshadows was going to live. She turned back to Shiftingshadows. "It's all right. We'll get you better," she said trying to comfort Shiftingshadows, while secretly comforting herself.

Entitled: Moonlight fell on the snow white pelt of the young medicine cat. He was sleeping under the stars. This sleep was far from peaceful. Beneath his eyelids flickered terrible enemies that smelled of crowfood. His Clan lay bleeding but he could do nothing to help them.
Icefang!!!! Icefang! Come here! Quickly! Shiftingshadows is having trouble breathing!" Breezestar's yowl startled the small tom into the waking world.
He bristled in alarm. Icefang darted into his leader's den and his golden amber eyes stretched wide in surprise. Quickly he sniffed at the warrioress. 'Trouble breathing, severe' He thought quickly, 'Juniper berries!'
Without a word to his leader he shot off. Time was a factor. If he were to save the she-cat he had to be fast. He found the berries by scent and scooped them up. As a last minute thought he grabbed some thyme in case she was in shock from the attack.
He came into the cave. He bent down low and sniffed Shiftingshadow's muzzle, then pushed the purple berries and the thyme forward, "Here Shiftingshadows. Eat these."
He felt surprised by how calm he sounded, when inside his heart was beating. He missed his mentor desperately. Still he showed known of this on the outside as he watched his patient. |

ShiftingshadowsYour heart pounds as you stare into the shifting forest shadowsShiftingshadows somehow found the strength to stretch her head forward. Her muzzle brushed the herbs the cat had left for her and she licked them up.
Chewing just felt almost too much. She had no idea if she would be able to swallow. She finally did and lay her head down. Her breathing gradually began to slow and the panic that had enfolded her began to disappear.

Entitled: Icefang watched the she-cat. He stroked her head with his tail. "You're going to be fine now Shiftingshadows." He meowed reassuringly, "Come, I'll take you to my den."
He escorted the sick cat to his den and returned to Breezestar's a moment later. He stared at his leader with golden amber eyes that swam with sadness.
"I'll be truthful." He finally meowed, "The most I can do for Shiftingshadows is make her comfortable. Whatever has made her sick is something on the inside and I do not know how to treat it. When Halfmoon comes I may consult Star-clan but that is all I can truly do." |

Breezestar did what she could to help, but it looked as if the young tom had it down pretty well. Breezestar looked on in sympathy for Shiftingshadows. She looked as if she was in so much pain. Breezestar wished she could just make the sickness go away. Once Icefang came back, she asked, "Will she be okay?" and he answered. It was a sorrowful answer. Breezestar nodded sadly. Cornwhisker had just died recently. Another cat's death wouldn't help the Clan. "If you see anything from StarClan, I would like you to tell me immediately," she told Icefang. Breezestar was slumped over, and her eyes full of darkness as if the stress she undertaking was changing her eye color darker. "Thank you Icefang," she murmured, and then went to the center of her den, and laid down.
