The huge ginger and white tom padded through the starlit clearing. He had gone hunting so long ago, but prey had evaded him. He was frustrated, worried and tired. Three rogues had come today, to join Shadow Clan momentarily. The tom jumped onto the dead tree. "Rapidfire what are you going to do?" He meowed to himself. That was his name, Rapidfire. He was the deputy of Shadow Clan and he would serve them as such for a long life...or so he thought. His golden eyes traveled around the clearing, searching for any morsel. Then he saw it. He purred to himself, it was a squirrel. Silent as night he stalked towards the creature, but SNAP! The squirrel darted away and up a tree. Rapidfire snarled in his throat, he dug his claws in the trunk. There was no way he was letting this go.
Higher and higher Rapidfire climbed, his breath becoming ragged with effort. The tom stopped finally when the squirrel stopped at the end of a branch, not far now. His paws led him forward until a sharp noise filled his world. He froze, "Foxdung!" He spat, realizing his stupidity. The branch he was on was far too weak for his weight. He looked down, a fall from this height would harm him, or kill him. He took a ginger step back. The branch groaned beneath his weight and then it was gone. Rapidfire yowled and as he struck the ground a sharp snapping noise filled the air. Agony seared through his front leg, he screeched in pain. The bone was twisted and sticking from his flesh, red blood pumped through the wound and onto the grass. Rapidfire grit his teeth. His head was spinning, he hurt everywhere. If I stay here I'll die... He staggered to his paws. Pain, blinding hot pain. He crumbled to the ground and moaned.
