Rainfire was pleased. He had chosen a good cat to become deputy. He glanced down at his clanmates and Mousepelt and then to Nightspirit. He had picked right. Nightspirit was popular with the cats in Riverclan. They said their congrats and called her name. Rainfire could tell that Nightspirit was still having a hard time beliving it. He knew how that felt when Desparingstar chose him. He suddenly felt a pang of sadness. He would go talk to Nightspirit and then go morn for Desparingstar again.

Nightspirit blinked in surprise. She was deputy. The clan would now depend on her. She was up to the challenge but something about the idea of it scared her. What if I fail? She thought to herself. She wouldn't refuse but deputy was a big role. She looked up at Rainfire and she wondered why did he chose her. She then smiled and said thanks to those who congratulated her. This, she guessed could just be another way to serve her clan. "I think I might join you on the hunting patrol," She told to Mousepelt. Then her murky blue eyes drifted back to her leader. She guessed that her might want to speak to her.

"Nightspirit". He said walking up to her. "Congrats. I chose the right cat to become deputy". He said with a big grin on his face.

Nightspirit smiled back at her leader. "Thank you Rainfire. I am honored that you choose me," she replied slightly stunned. He truly did beleive that she was the right cat to be deputy and a possible future leader of the clan. "I'll do my best to serve the clan. Even so if you don't mind me asking why do you think I am the right cat?" She asked carefully and curiously. She felt that she needed to know, afterall in her mind's eye she didn't equal up to worthy as anything more than a Riverclan warrior let alone deputy or leader. Perhaps she just needed a little time to get use to the idea.

Rainfire thought hard about the question that Nightspirit asked him. "Sometimes". He paused and the contuined, "You cant really be sure. I just know in my heart that you are. You are a loyal, hard working and strong and not afraid of giving orders. And we need someone like that right now since leaf-bare is not far away".

Nightspirit nodded fervently. "Thank you," she said gently. He had given her a lot to consider and she now felt more confident. She also understood better now."I guess I'll sort out the patrols now... When will you go share tongues with Starclan to get your name and lives?" She added as she started to plan ahead in her mind. She still wanted to go out to hunt with the hunting patrol.

Snowywind Snowywind bounced excitedly over to Nightspirit, her ice blue eyes twinkling with mirth. "Congrats!" She purred bunting roughly into her new deputy. She was sad that Despairingstar was gone but confident that Rainfire and Nightspirit would see them through this hard time.
"So what orders would you like to give me."She teased, her eyes narrowing playfully. A laugh bubbled up in her throat and the playful cat leaped away again leaving to gather up her patrol.Emberflower Emberflower sat off the edge of camp, her emerald green eyes narrowed in dangerous slits. It seemed like only yesterday that Despairingstar had been issuing orders left and right. How could she have died so fast? And Why?
"Interesting." She meowed tipping her head to the side. She watched her soon to be leader walk around, congratulate the new deputy and then nothing. Her eyes drifted to Snowywind and then back to Nightspirit. Would the cat take care of them, would she be a good deputy like Rainfire had been? |

"Sure you can organize the patrols. And you can go and lead one of them if you want". Rainfire said. "And yes, i will be heading off to the moonpool in a little while".

"Okay," Nightspirit said with a smile then turned around. She rolled her murky blue eyes and let out a purr as Snowywind bumbed into her and teased her lightly. "Just keep out of trouble," she retorted playfully. Her greif about their dead leader still weighed heavy in her heart but she had a job to do and a role to fill. She let out a small sigh as she turned towards Mousepelt. She would go on the hunting patrol afterall being a Deputy would probably be like being a Warrior with a little more authority and more chores. She would still have to follow the Warrior code.

Rainfire suddenly rembered something he forgot to announce to his clan. He jumped back on the old tree-stump and spoke again. "Sorry everyone, i forgot to say something important". He waited until all of his clan mates were at least looking at him. "All of you must be wandering when I will be traveling to the moonpool. I will leave in at least, 2 days.(thats all right, right?) I will wait for our medicine cat Milkheart to get some traveling herbs ready for me too go". He noded to Milkheart. "And while i am gone, Nightspirit will be in charge. Ok, thats all". He said with a smile on his face. "Thank you". He said while jumping down from the old tree-stump.
